    large #13 pho tai nam extra noodles #6A vegetable dumplings broth lacks the extra layer of depth I'm accustomed to at more traditional pho restaurants, as a result, seemed a little watered down. while the broth is better than the shelf-stable Pacific Natural Foods tetrapak found at the grocery store, I expected more. when you're the only game in town, not subject to the pressures of competition, quality tends to decrease. I was surprised the traditional accoutrements lacked the basil sprig, bean sprouts were starting to brown, cilantro was limp, jalapeno slices were plentiful and spicy hot (no complains there). vegetable dumplings were smallish, deep-fried and largely tasteless save for the sauce on the side which barely saved the dish. Service was excellent. There was a $1 off offer for checking in on Facebook.

    I was on the road trip with my family, and my mom always wants to eat some viet food whenever we're on the trip. Found this one on GPS, so we came in. The first problem I got was the guy picked up the phone (to tell us where to park) doesn't speak Viet. Ok, that's understandable. Secondly, when we were in, there were a lot of Asians, and I assumed they were Viet,...later I found out they weren't. The cashier girl was Caucasian too, so.... My mom looked around and didn't want to eat, but we were already there... So we ordered 3 bowl of Pho (we assumed Vietnamese food are best known at Pho) and hope it shouldn't be that bad. When we were waiting for Pho, they brought a vegetables dish out. Bean sprouts were brownish at the end (which they're not supposed to be like that! Fresh ones look allllll WHITE!) I was like.... Ok, don't judge anything yet.. And Pho came out. My mom ate, didnt say a word. She started to put some hot sauce to have more flavor, but couldn't help it. Me, personally I'm not picky in food AT ALL, and I have to admit the broth has absolutely almost NO FLAVORs! I mean literally, it's a bowl of Pho, not a small little bowl of no flavor broth to eat with rice! So, I aske them some fish sauce. The cashier girl brought out a diluted fish sauce (I mean already make it SUPER SWEET, and I wanted to have plain fish sauce). I don't blame on that girl cos she is Caucasian and she just work there. But Geez, the broth is so water down! Worst come to worst, my stepdad (Caucasian, who are very easily in eating an enjoys any kind of food from any cuisine) said the same thing: NO FLAVOR in his Pho bowl. I don't care if this restaurant is nearby a school so a bit cheaper price is good, but it has to have some quality! I don't even understand how this restaurant is still in business! If I live nearby here, I swear I rather spend some time to cook an invite my friends to come over my house and eat, than invite them to come here and eat. I would feel so embarrassed! Not 1 star, I want a ZERO Star!

    Green Leaf is the best place to get pho at Purdue! My friends and I always come here when it is cold, rainy, we are sick, or just craving yummy pho. They have a good selection of pho and the prices are very fair! I haven't really tried anything else on the menu because the pho is that good, but I probably will soon! The staff is laid back and helpful, and the environment is clean and relaxed. For affordable and delicious pho Green Leaf is my go to!

    The service was great, and the restaurant is clean and bright. They also have good bubble tea, which is a plus. However, food wasn't good. Maybe we didn't order the right dishes? I had Bo Luc Lac with rice, and my friend had Shrimp rice plate. They were both pretty dry, plain, and cold. I hope the food will get better soon because this is like the only Viet place in town, and I would like to come back for the food.

    You can make an argument that Vietnamese food, because of a natural proclivity towards fresh non-greasy ingredients combined with a French influence, is the best cuisine in the world. But it's not for everyone and I don't fault previous reviewers giving the Pho one star while admitting they'd never had it before. The Pho here was as good as any I had in Vietnam. The key is the subtlety of the fresh condiments added and eaten immediately after you place them in the soup. The Tofu is great. Spring rolls solid too. It was affordable...6 people ate for $60 including two appetizers. I would give this place five stars but the lemon grass chicken was a disappointment. Not terrible...but too Americanized with none of the tart, lemongrass visible in the meal.

    Four star because it's probably the best you can get at a not-so-asian town. Comments on the porkchop rice dish, combination pho and crispy banana ice cream are in the pics I posted. We also got pork skewers (on the sweet side, but pretty good), meatball skewers (reminds me of the Swedish ikea meatballs, but pretty decent), and pork/shrimp spring roll (like another reviewer said, they do have a lot of veggies and not a lot of meat in them.). Overall, impressed with the fact that this large restaurant only had 2-3 waiter/waitress. Watch for them including gratuity for larger parties (I was with 4 other people) in the receipt.

    OK pho.... I mean we are in West Lafayette Indiana... What can we expect from pho restaurant.... My Vietnam roommate went there once and never went there. I even consider pho served at Purdue's Ford dining court taste same. Taste like pho-spice plus msg. Cilantro and the basil are usually not so fresh. The price is OK although I have seen many pho restaurant with more meat in it. I sometimes order extra meat, but I do not see the difference. The customer service is OK, but I experienced the worst service on my graduation day. The servers did not take orders in order got to my window seat five minutes later. They said they do not have table seat, but customers came in later took chairs and tables from other tables and got themselves table. The server said 'what kind of customer service do you want in a day like this?' She was the rudest server in my 26years of my life. I got very mad and left restaurant. That all happened in front of my parents. Do I still go to this restaurant? Yes, I avoid busy days. I learned my lessons. I do not see the server anymore. Food is not the best, but there are somedays I cannot resist eating pho. Oh, their Thai ice tea is good.

    First off don't go by my review. The place was packed. And mostly with Asians. So surely they know something. We started with goi rolls. They were ice cold and way too much lettuce. The peanut sauce had no peanut flavor. The pho tasted like hot water. It had little to know flavor. I'm not a pho expert but I've had pho in about 10 restaurants (including Vietnam) and I've never had pho with so little flavor. A good pho does not need anything added. I looked around and everyone was flooding their pho with Hoisin and Sirachi sauce. That does add flavor but I was looking forward to a good beef pho. Not Hoisin soup. At our table we also got a curry chicken which was also lacking in curry or any flavor. We have had plenty of Vietnamese curries (including Vietnam) so we now the sauce has a more subtle flavor. But this did not even reach subtle. It bordered on hint. Another dish we tried was a chicken salad. Unfortunately we had expectations here with Vietnamese chicken salad with cabbage is one of our favorites. This was straight chicken on lettuce with no seasoning that we could discern. Would love to have loved this. But it was so uniformly bland we'll never be back.

    It's a nice place to get your Vietnamese fix as a student. However, I found everything to be pricey, which is not really college friendly. But the decor is nice inside, and everything seems fresh and clean. My favorite item on the menu is #24 with the egg roll and grilled meats on rice noodles. Adding spring rolls as an appetizer is a nice tough to the meal. I don't recommend getting the pho, ever. It's super bland. The one time I got it, I couldn't get myself to finish it.

    Some of the best food I've found in Lafayette in a long time, and good value to boot. I'll be back here again. I saw some comments which basically sounded like "my mum makes better Pho" or "I can get better Pho in XXXX big city", but frankly who cares. This is Lafayette, and the alternatives are terrible. This is streets ahead of most of the local places within easy walking distance of Purdue campus.

    A-OK I mean what more can you expect? This is Indiana. I am from California where there are way way way better Vietnamese food, however, my Purdue friend suggested to have a Vietnamese dinner, so we walked here from her house. She is Korean. but she loves Pho. I think Vietnamese customers would not likely to like this place, especially my parents, well, the restaurant seems to have lots of non-Asian customers. Overall, the pho does not taste so bad at all.

    I love this place (and I'm from LA)! Especially, considering the other options in town. The pho is always delicious. The appetizers are yummy. The curry dishes are decent. However, the pièce de résistance is the cornish hen! It's deep-fried and comes with a sweet soy dipping sauce. It doesn't get much better in West Lafayette. The only downside is I've had bubble tea here a couple times and it always tastes like old lady perfume. --- Thank you Tina! We went back and had (two) free bubble teas. My husband really liked the passion fruit milk tea. I had the sour lychee milk tea and it wasn't bad. I think the thing is that I'm not used to milk tea. In LA we have lots of plain tea options - my favorite is kumquat black tea. I'd also like to add that Green Leaf always has excellent customer service as well!

    Came here for the first time today with a friend who counts this as one of her favorite restaurants. She had already ordered two appetizers: pork skewers and eggrolls. I enjoyed the pork skewers, but didn't find the eggrolls to be anything terribly special. For our meals, my friend ordered a yellow chicken curry which had quite a few potatoes in it. I asked the server what she recommended, as I had never been here before, and I ended up with the chicken sautee. It was quite good, with a sweet-ish sauce I can't place. I've never had Vietnamese food before and was pleasantly surprised at how light it was--not heavily fried or greasy. The service was great even though things were picking up partway through our meal. I ended up paying about $13 for a drink, an appetizer, and my meal, which wasn't too bad. I'm looking forward to coming back and trying their other dishes!

    I was surprised to find a vietnamese restaurant around here so I am glad for that. I had the spring rolls and some pho (number 13). Both were good and fresh but nothing out of this world. The peanut sauce with the spring rolls was very good and the meat in the pho was cooked perfectly so it tasted very good. Overall a very decent Vietnamese food. The best part it's probably the price; less than 14 for rolls, pho, and ice tea not bad at all...

    Good pho at a good price. I usually get the pho ga which is like chicken soup with rice noodles and a bit of licorice/anise flavor. My friends that don't like the strong flavor of the broth usually get the rice bowls/plates which end up pretty well. The spring rolls with the peanut sauce are also a hit - I prefer them to the fried ones.

    Decent pho for being in Indiana. My expectations are lower than I'd have if I were in Cali, or St. Paul, or even Chicago. But when you've got that craving, and can't be bothered to make it yourself, it'll do the trick. And really, where else in town are you going to go for real pho? The broth is flavorful, not too greasy and not oversalted - the two killers of bad pho. The beef is also fair, with lean flank and decent brisket. Meatballs were actually a little on the peppery side - a surprise that I found enjoyable. What's missing - nuoc mam at the tables. Really dudes, what's with the bottles of hoisin? Even plain soysauce would be preferable. You get a big bowl for a small price. I'll certainly be back for more. And maybe I'll just bring my own fish sauce.

    If I ever go to Vietnam, I'm going to ask for #24-- I don't have a clue what it's really called but it's so good! This is one of my favorite menu items in the entire county. We're lucky to have a Vietnamese restaurant and I wish more people would try it. The spring rolls are good too!

    Best pho place in West Lafayette. The pho at Green Leaf is very good, and it's to my liking. I get the ultimate pho with the beef ball, strips of meat and tripe (cow stomach) as well as their fried egg rolls. I love the fried egg rolls. I've, also, gotten their fried egg and Vietnamese sausage with rice and that's very good as well. I'm not a big fan of the cold noodle dishes that most Vietnamese restaurants serve. Overall, good pho on winter days and great prices.

    We ordered beef Pho and shrimp Pho. Broth didn't taste much different from boiled water, especially in shrimp one. They served cilantro instead of basil (I think basil is an essential component of good Pho). Besides Pho we also had shrimp salad. It was OK. Anyway, Pho disappointed me so I'm not coming to Green Leaf again.

    This place reminds me of a little Vietnamese place in St. Paul we used to go to as a family. Its just great, simple tasting food. Its something that I could eat over and over. The salads are what I usually get, but I have also had the fried tofu the pho, and the curry, all of which are excellent. The place is nice and airy, the service is good, and they will usually cook your dish however you want, as long as they can do it.

    Pho and egg rolls or spring rolls, those things are tasty. You can get beef, chicken or shrimp Pho. I wish they had a vegetarian option with tofu in it, I'm guessing if you asked they would probably do it even if it isn't on the menu. The service has always been good and the prices are perfectly affordable. They even serve beer and wine.

    Green Leaf certainly is not the best place for pho, it doesn't even come close, but it is the ONLY place in West Lafayette (the next closest pho place is in Lafayette--Saigon, and they're not that great either). The noodles are OK, only a little bit of breakage every now and then. The meat is fresh enough to order them on the side, though the amount is very small. Pho is all about the broth and that's where Green Leaf fails to impress. Their broth tastes like it's comes from mixed powder--the ones you can get from an Asian grocery store. If you're looking for a huge bowl of noodles in flavorful and piping hot broth, you will be disappointed. But if you're looking for a place to grab a quick and cheap bite, Green Leaf will fill that role. In terms of price, they are amongst one of the least expensive out there for ethnic food in West Lafayette, and they do try to provide a variety of food - for about $8.50, you can order a whole cornish chicken with rice, which can surely satisfy those with a huge appetite. All of their pork dishes are very good as well, the meat is well marinated, has just the right amount of lemongrass flavor to it. I haven't had a chance to try their Vietnamese coffee yet, though their Thai Tea is quite good. When it comes to service, it's hit and miss. Though I have found that the male servers seem to be quite attentive (I've gone there with a big groups of people as well as just with a few friends, or just with my DH), while the female servers are generally busy doing...I'm not sure what *shrug*. *Note* They do have a TV, but I've never seen it turned on except during their first year of business.

    Amazing pho and bubble teas. I can't review anything else because i have only gotten pho and bubble tea every time I have been here, however, they do have a large selection of types of pho along with many other things on the menu. Very reasonably priced also with large servings. Service can be slow at times because there is usually only 1 or 2 servers and the place is usually packed.

    Green Leaf is one of our absolutely favorite places to eat. Food is always fresh and the tastes, plus the mixes of flavors are just heaven on the palette! If you have never tried Vietnamese food before, Green Leaf is the place to give it a shot. The first time is good, the second time it gets better, and by the third time, you'll be hooked! The wait staff is very good, food is served very quick and the owner is extremely kind.

    I've never had Vietnamese food until I tried Green Leaf. I was unsure of what to order so I asked the owner what she would suggest. I forgot what the name is because it has been a while since I've been there, but it was soo delicious! It was a very healthy, light meal (light meaning not fatty, greasy, and didn't make me feel bloated after eating it). The atmosphere is also very uplifting and pleasant. I would definitely go back.

    Usually I would rate Green Leaf 4 stars compared to the surrounding restaurants in the surrounding area. They have pretty good food and service for the price. However for this visit, it's a different story. We got here around 1:30 on a Sunday afternoon and put in our orders promptly. We always get the signature because it has all the types of protein on their menu with a big bowl of noodle soup. Right now it's 2:30 and I am writing this review. I don't know what's going on in the kitchen, but waiting for over an hour to get food is pretty ridiculous. Also, a guest who came in later than us got his food served first. We hope we get our food soon!

    It's alright. We ordered two bowls of pho with beaf, beaf meat balls, and beef tripe. For the low price of the pho, I guess it's reasonable to find only 2 quarters of the meat balls, and couple thin tripe swimming around in the soup. The pho is pretty tasteless tho, but again, i don't know what a real pho is supposed to taste like.

    Their pho needs less msg and a whole lot of work. I've had pho on multiple restaurants on the West coast and the one here pales in comparison. I judge a vietnamese place by their Vietnamese spring rolls and Pho. Nothing amazing but if you want hot noodle soup(not pho) on a cold day, this place would suffice.

    I had the combination pho here on Wednesday night...I ended up getting sick a little while later. I really like pho and was excited for it here after a 6 hour drive, but it did not taste like good pho. Very plain soup and the meat was probably old. The basil they used had black spots on it...I find authentic Asian food to be a treat, but this time I regret not going to McDonald's instead..Please don't go here.

    YUCK! I ordered the shrimp pho and who ever is in the kitchen has absolutely no idea how to clean a shrimp. Most of the shrimp still had their legs attached, and the few that didn't clearly just had them snipped off. Two were not even de-veined. Terrible, terrible cooking habits! Also, the woman who I am presuming is the manager took over the table behind us to yell at one of her employees. If you are going to fire someone, do it in private where your customers cannot overhear!

    Omg I absolutely love this place!!! The staff there are super lovely!! When you go there ask for Jenny or Angela and Agnes too!! there!! Super sweet ladies!! My favorite is number 29 and the pho is to die for!! Best hangover soup ever after a long night!! And if you're looking for a sweet pick me up the taro bubble tea or the peach tea with lychee is super good as well!!! Highly recommended place!!

    Me and my wife came in and noticed that some of the tables were unclean and still had rags on them (I told her immediately that this was a bad sign). We were seated on a two-person table but I asked if we could eat at a larger table (me and my wife sit side-by-side). The guy helping us was unsure if that was allowed and we asked the guy in charge (Caucasian male). He told us that we could not because those tables are reserved for groups 3 or more and it was going to be busy at 8pm. Me and my wife told him that there were many tables available and that it was only 7pm (more than enough time for 2 bowls of pho). He gave back attitude and said "well, if you really want to..." Me and my wife walked out. I wouldn't have asked if I didn't want to sit at another table.

    I got the fried cornish hen because the pictures on here looked so good! and it was pretty good. It was pretty dry, but I kinda like it when my chicken is like beef jerky. I also ordered some beef pho for the first time. The beef was light gray and the broth was not what I expected. I ended up just giving it to my friend because it was gross. I'm giving it 3 stars though because the cornish hen was good, however, who tf goes to a vietnamese place to eat cornish hen? That should not be your most famous dish.

    Nice to have a Vietnamese option in the Lafayette area. It's definitely not the best, as the Pho broth is not as rich and flavorful as other places I've been to, but it should satisfy any cravings while on Purdue's campus.

    Worst Vietnamese food I've ever had. No tendon available for the pho, overcooked meat (to the point that the beef was approaching a pale white color), stingy with the pho vegetables, and the soup base was lacking in flavor.

    We were really excited to eat some Vietnamese food on a Saturday night, but were so disappointed. I can handle mediocre, but the food I had here was just not good. The service was ok, but it seems like maybe the owners don't know how to run a good restaurant. The floor was noticeably dirty. Maybe I should have taken that as a sign and left. It took a while for our server to bring us water, but that's no big deal. We ordered the crispy tofu appetizer, tofu spring rolls, rice with pork skewers, rice with yellow curry tofu, and three bubble teas. The server came back a few minutes later to let us know they were out of bubbles, so we declined to have any teas. The appetizers came out, but the server didn't bring us any appetizer plates. The crispy tofu was fine, just what you would expect. The spring rolls were pretty flavorless - mostly lettuce with a couple of thin pieces of tofu and a tiny amount of rice noodle (so tiny I didn't even notice there were any until my mother-in-law pointed them out). The sauces were pretty mediocre. Not much flavor, especially in the one that came with the spring rolls. When the tofu curry came out it looked strange, like yellow broth with some thin-cut pieces of tofu dropped in, but I gave it a try, feeling hopeful, but my husband saw my face and said "oh, no." It tasted terrible. I can deal with a mediocre curry, but this just tasted bad. The tofu tasted bad, the tiny potato chunks tasted bad, and the curry sauce itself tasted bad. It was watery, with the consistency of chicken broth, and did not have much of a curry flavor. It was not spicy, and had only a little bit of coconut milk flavor. I really think it was watered down. The pork skewers were good, but it would have been nice to have a knife to cut the meat. The rice was dry. The flavor was ok, but it was definitely on the sweet side. The first couple of bites were alright, but then the sweet becomes a little overwhelming. It wasn't anything spectacular, but it says something when 'average' is the highlight of the meal. When my mother-in-law went to pay, she asked to not pay for the curry because it wasn't good and we didn't eat it. (We had told the server who asked if we wanted to order anything else, but I declined.) The cashier had to talk to the owner who came out and told us that she had just cooked the curry this morning and didn't understand what my mother-in-law meant when she said that the curry had no spice, but after a couple minutes agreed that if we didn't enjoy it we didn't have to pay for it. I don't know who they are trying to fool with this food. My mother-in-law is from Vietnam, so she knows Vietnamese food, and this is not it. This whole experience was very disappointing. Just because it's the only Vietnamese restaurant in the area, does not mean that they shouldn't offer a good experience and delicious food. We will not be back.

    First time here yesterday and it proved to be a great lunch spot. Good crowd and very friendly service. A great lunch combo of Shrimp Pho and a Thai tea. The pho soup is accompanied by a plate of fresh cilantro limes bean sprouts and sliced jalapenos so you can modify to your liking. Very hearty and flavorful soup. Look forward to a future return trip while in West Lafayette.

    This is the best restaurant on campus!!! I eat here at least once a week and never get sick of this place. Honestly everything is so tasty.I recommend the pork skewers and spring rolls for the appetizers and must try pho. For the rice dishes I recommend #29, #33 and #36.Super friendly staff and tasty!!! **taro and red bean are my favorite bubble teas

    This place is great if you're looking for some variety in pho, rice dishes, etc. We have visited this establishment several times now and although the food is really good the service is horrible. It seems as though the servers could careless about the customers and are more concerned with getting a paycheck/tip, which is discerning. Other than the service not being great, the food kind of makes it worth it.

    Walking into this supposedly authentic vietnamese restaurant, my first impression was there isn't any expat here. And that is not a good sign. I've been several times and everytime left disappointed. Pho is bland. Curry is tasteless and has too much coconut milk. The fish sauce that came with the rice or noodle entrees are is overly sweet and salty. The spring rolls have too much rice noodles inside, it's called "spring" roll for a reason: put more veggies in there! And don't even let me get started on the Vietnamese coffee: it tastes just like the regular coffee you get at the gas station: burnt, too liquidy, not enough condensed milk, too much ice, and there was too much coffee grinds left in my cup, TOO MUCH. I mean... Really guys? A cup of Vietnamese coffee is simply strong coffee, condensed milk and ice, all mixed in together, it's not like I order a cappuccino or anything. And they managed to pour the wrong coffee flavor + consistency, add the wrong amount of milk, and load it with too much ice... Will never return again.

    Wonderful pho and spring rolls! Service was a little slow but we caught them right at lunch rush. The food absolutely makes up for it though and I gladly would have waited twice as long. I'll definitely be back!

    Having been here twice, I'd say this is a good lunch spot, though I need to eat here a few more times to get a good feel for it I think. On my first visit, I ordered the tofu with rice dish. While both were well-cooked, the only elements to this dish were literally tofu and rice. They keep hoisin sauce and sririacha on each table- I wonder of the philosophy of this place is to add your own flavor, using those sauces? This might appeal to some people who like to control the amount of sweet/spicy/salty-ness on their own. I was not in love with dish due to it's complete lack of flavor. My second visit was on a very very cold day, and I figured a hot bowl of pho would be just the thing to warm me up. Apparently many others had the same idea, because the place was packed on a weekday at 1pm. Took a while for my pho to come, but I waited in the pleasant little window seat and read my book. When it did arrive, I had to ask the waitress for the little plate of bean sprouts/cilantro/basil/jalapeno/lime that should have come with it. She said they were so busy they that were running out of the garnishes so they were only giving them to those who asked. I'm glad I did ask, because the soup would have been, again, pretty flat without the flavor of the garnishes. That being said, I was pleased with the end result. It was a fresh, satisfying bowl. Pho Sho.

    Went on a weekend for lunch. Our server was very friendly and helpful with questions. Pho was good for a quick lunch. Also tried the mango bubble tea, which was okay. My boyfriend got some of the strawberry "jellies" also added into his passion fruit bubble tea, and his was great!

    In recent times, this has become our favorite restaurant in Lafayette, so much that over the summer we were going once a week. That being said, I would advice that you avoid going here on weekends (or during busy hours when Purdue is in session) as they tend to be busy and their food quality takes a steep decline (if I were to rate my weekend experiences, I would give Green Leaf three stars or even two stars). Namely, the waiters are always on a rush (to be expected), and the broth of the pho is lacking of flavor, so much that one regrets of having ordered the pho or even going to Green lead. However on a nonbusy weekday, the staff is always friendly and attentive, and the food is cooked to a high standard. Moreover, the broth of the pho makes one salivate. Now that that's out of the way, they have a great selections of appetizers and their pho (wide variety to choose from) is amazing. While the prices between the regular and large portion of pho only varies by 40 cents, the difference in size is significant. So order a large only if you have a large appetite. Their Green leaf signature pho (20a) is usually our to go to dish. Beware, this is a very large bowl and can feed two. Best of all it is under $10. They also have other dishes, but have not tried them as we usually just order pho, an appetizer and bubble tea (which is also a must get!).

    I really wish I could like this place because I *love* pho. But there is something about the taste of the broth that just doesn't do it for me. I'm not sure if they have changed something because when they first opened up I used to go quite a lot and never noticed anything that I didn't like with the broth, then eventually (maybe a year or 2 ago?)I just realized that something tasted different and stopped going as much, and last time I went I pinpointed it to the broth being completely NOT to my liking. I do go for the bubble tea when I am already down the hill. But otherwise it's more convenient to go to a certain other bubble tea up the hill to save time.

    Was looking for some "authentic" Asian food while at Purdue for graduation. This is where we found most Asians inside, so that was the first hint it's decent. The food was pretty good for being in the Midwest, given our Southern California ethnic taste buds. Would definitely recommend it.

    Sooo I've been back to GreenLeaf again. Twice in 2 days...I'd say I'm a regular here, the server (TJ) recognized me a bunch of times! I had the Tai Nam, and it's still the same- not great but not horrible either. Perhaps some reviewers haven't been to some of the places where they cater to exclusively a specific ethnicity, but this place ain't bad and is about maybe a little above average considering where I've been (originally from DC, been to Vietnam), but overall this place is awesome for Indiana. I didn't really taste any MSG in the food (which leads to one drinking a lot of water and feeling like they've drunk a gallon of salt water) which is great. However, even without MSG (which is a good thing), the soup base should have a little bit more of a kick to it. Tip: If you squeeze out the cut lime that they'll give you into the soup, it'll bring out some flavor (however, even with that, my experience was still pretty meh). The spring roll this time did come out before the pho (and they were busier too), so maybe that was an incident isolated to two times. The chicken spring roll is better than the other one imho. Third time around, I decided to venture off the pho and get a #28 Whole Cornish hen. (This is the reason for the extra star). Very, very good flavor and crispiness. I will probably get this again the next time I come here. I would suggest it! Note: The last couple of times I've been there, it's only been TJ (a waiter/cashier) there. He's very friendly and he's an awesome waiter, even when he has to juggle the entire restaurant...During peak hours this place can get slow but otherwise it's pretty good. TL; DR version: Good food, pho's a bit weak (but nothing to be ashamed of and pretty average) but #28 Cornish hen is pretty great.

    The service was great, food was good, but I felt really uneasy after my last experience. I went to Green leaf with my friend and were at the restaurant talking for a couple of hours. I went to use the bath room and there was a worker in the women's restroom drinking a beer. The worker was a GUY!!! When I went back to my table, I noticed a guy grabbing beers and taking them back to the kitchen. It made me feel like there are a bunch of drunks preparing my food. I immediately felt disgusted because there is no telling what they could have done to my food or anyone else's. Needless to say, I won't be back. I say STAY AWAY UNLESS YOU WANT A BUNCH OF UNSANITARY DRUNKS MAKING YOUR FOOD!

    I am Vietnamese, my family is all vietnamese, and I'm from Chicago where I frequent Argyle, the Vietnamese sector of Chicago. I'm surprised that fellow Chicagoans and Californians (also big Vietnamese population in southern Cali, great food always) rave about this place, as I don't think this even close compares to others. Sure, it's Indiana, but I've had Vietnamese places all over Indiana in the middle of nowheres that are better than this. The pho here isn't great. There's barely any noodles or meat so I always have to ask for extra. The noodles are always kinda balled up and stick together too in the middle. For those students who really would like a good bowl of pho, Ford Dining Hall usually makes it daily, and I really enjoy theirs much better. I'll have the pho at Green Leaf, but it 'll barely hit the spot. The rest of the food, rice dishes and noodle dishes however, are actually pretty good. I would recommend having those instead of the pho for sure.The spring rolls are quite good and traditional to what my mom and other restaurants make too. I'm used to Vietnamese places piling food mile high for my buck, so I expected a little more food, but it was adequate. Bottom line: As cool as it is to have a Vietnamese restaurant at Purdue, it is in no way shape or form is my favorite.

    16a Pho with Flank Boba Dry Rice Noodle (can't remember which) - Terrible pho. Incredibly flavorless. the soup tastes like it came from a can. Such a shame because if they had good pho, their business would be booming because the weather here is cold more than half of the school year. - The bubble tea bubbles have always been too squishy, like they are disintegrating. - The rice noodle was pretty good though, but I judge Vietnamese restaurants based on their phos, after all it is their national dish However for $6.94 It isn't too terrible. p.s. Syngin A. must not have gone to Argyle street (the only truly Vietnamese area out of all the rest in Chinatown. Really? pho in Chinatown? You must be dreaming) as Green Leaf's pho is by far the worst I have had ever in my entire life. By a considerable measure to boot.

    Two of us ordered tofu dishes, one was tofu noodle soup and the other was crispy tofu and rice. Both were just ok. The crispy tofu and rice is simply deep fried tofu, some peanut sprinkles, and rice. There was no sauce! It was extremely dry and the tofu was very oily from the fryer. Our waitress noticed that it wasn't being eaten and asked if we liked it. We replied that it was very dry and we were surprised that it did not have any type of sauce on it. She responded that with "vietnamese food you are expected to sauce your own and that there was hoisin and Sriracha available on the table." Um ok, this has never been my experience but ok. She also told us a story about how the staff laughs at all americans that come in trying to impress their dates by eating with chopsticks. The food was just ok but the server was quite rude and completely oblivious. I'd probably eat there again just because there aren't that many options in Lafayette for simple fresh vegetarian food but I've definitely had better vietnamese cuisine elsewhere.

    I know the owner and know for a fact that her pho is made from scratch every single day. Her menu is practically a scratch menu. The pho is among the best best I've had (no greasy mouth feel, no shortage of value) & even being in DC, there are few who compare. Perhaps some of these reviewers came on an off day but I frequently eat here and am never disappointed. Granted, I'm not Vietnamese but the Vietnamese people I knew at Purdue highly recommended this place, claiming both authenticity & excellent service. If you had a bad experience, go back when Tina is there & speak to her yourself. She's among the warmest, more genuine people I know and she will do what's possible to make your experience better. There is a reason she had garnished so many loyal customers.

    Came in for lunch yesterday. It was very busy and the service was slow. It looks like they need more help and I did see a help wanted sign. The pho was very good and we enjoyed it. The blond helper seemed overwhelmed but he was very nice. He forgot to make my bubble tea and the owner made it for me as we were checking out free of charge. I told them it was OK as they were very busy and that I did not need it. However, she insisted that I take it. That was kind of her. She really did not have to do that. I will definitely be back.

    I love, love, love this Vietnamese restaurant. I'm Vietnamese, my mama cooks Vietnamese, and I live in downtown Chicago so I feel confident I know enough to give an informed opinion. It's like a restaurant I would expect in Lakeview, Wicker Park, Chinatown or Argyle Street in Chicago. To find such a gem in West Lafayette is kind of crazy but a huge delight. I've only ever ordered the eggrolls and the deep friend quail, but they are so good, I can't move passed them or order anything else just yet. The eggrolls are on the thin side, but two are only $2.75 so order more, if they are not enough. I can't believe the deep fried quail is only $8.15. It's enough food for two meals. The bubble teas are your average, standard bubble teas so no surprise and no disappointments. They have beer and wine too. Now, that I never got that at any Asian restaurants on campus when I was in college. Every time I've come here, it's full of Asian students from Purdue. On the weekends, it looks like they just rolled out of bed, still in their pajamas, called their friends and wandered in here to get fed. Service has been great, even when it's busy, crowded, chaotic. It's incredible how two young, white guys can man the register, take orders, serve the food and clean the tables at the busiest time of the day during lunch when the entire place is packed full. I felt so bad for them. They were still polite, helpful, apologetic and addressed any delays or wrong order with discounts. Finally, when the second wave of people hit, a lady who looked like the owner/manager took control of the register and the dishwasher came out to clean the tables while the two guys rushed cleaning, setting up the tables and taking orders all over again.

    I gotta start off with bubble tea...that is some REALLY interesting stuff!! If you havent had if its worth a shot, and get it with the bubbles in them. The tea itself was delicious, the bubbles are like jelly-ish balls that soak up some of the flavor. Its a big texture thing though so some may not like it. I went here for lunch on a weekend while visiting Purdue (I am an alum now boo real world) it was was a bit busy but the service was still pretty good. I was expecting Vietnamese food to be alot like other asain foods... not that light, more heavy...I guess when I think asain I think of your typical greasier types of dishes. This is not that, and its AWESOME. not greasy or heavy at all...and All of the ingredients tasted super fresh, especially the veggies. The three of us split a few different dishes..but I cant recall exactly what...but two were noodle dishes and the other was a soup.

    Pretty standard pho here, cheap and hits the spot. I always get the large portion of shrimp pho and some bubble tea which ends up being waay too much. The pho broth isn't too flavorful and it comes with only a few shrimp, but I douse everything in sriracha and hoisin sauce anyway. This is the only place around other than Basil Thai that serves bubble tea, so I take what I can get.

    I live And breathe pho noodles. It is a must have for a cold day, an Asian meal fix, or post hangover to settle the stomach. Being that I used to eat pho almost once a week back in NY, I get very picky. With that being said, FANTASTIC. Not sure if my taste buds' standards have gone done since I've been in west Lafayette but I am very pleased with this restaurant. The young staff is friendly. They have alcohol. And even better they have bubble tea. Reminds me of my old college days. The only other "Vietnamese" restaurant is house of Saigon in Lafayette. I did not enjoy it much and it tasted more like chinese fast food than pho. So stick with Green Leaf! Pho soup all the way!!

    We love this restaurant! It's surprising that it is not a very busy place at lunchtime. I had the chicken salad and it was fantastic. Their noodle dishes and soups are great, too.
